In the current scenario, the world energy consumption pattern is found to grow at a distressing rate. The various solutions promote renewable-energy resources, energy efficiency and demand control. One such a solution is found in the form of Smart Grid. It will ensure that Communication, IT and Power Technologies with work together to establish a comprehensive power infrastructure, which is sophisticated, digitally enhanced power systems, the use of modern communications and control technologies. It allows much greater robustness, efficiency and flexibility than the existing power systems. State-of-the-art technology in the power grid is seeking to optimize distributed electricity generation, especially from renewable sources, and to promote the use of smart devices. It requires further research on distributed communications, energy storage and integrations of various sources of energy. The Green Computing is one of the foremost challenges for the IT organizations that involve medium and large scale distributed infrastructures like Grids, Clouds and Clusters. The tradeoffs between energy efficiency and performance have become the key challenges that must be addressed in both, distributed and traditional performance-oriented infrastructures. The conference will explore the deep-rooted linkages between existing and emerging concerns faced by the Power , Communication and Information sector towards sustainability , develop appropriate strategies and decision making tools that would address the concerns and create awareness of the best practices in the fields of technology, management, procurement and synergy towards overall development of the country.
